During the second quarter of Super Bowl LX, Universal Pictures and Nintendo unveiled the extensive new trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the highly anticipated sequel to their 2023 billion-dollar smash hit. The high-octane spot offered audiences their first proper introduction to the franchise’s expanded universe, confirming long-standing rumors that Academy Award winner Brie Larson has joined the ensemble as the beloved Princess Rosalina. Alongside her debut, the trailer teased a chaotic new dynamic for the Koopa family, with acclaimed director and actor Benny Safdie lending his voice to the bratty, paintbrush-wielding Bowser Jr.
The trailer opens with a familiar comedic beat from Chris Pratt’s Mario before quickly shifting gears into a visual spectacle of spherical worlds and zero-gravity platforming.
