To celebrate two decades since the Veyron redefined the automotive landscape, Bugatti has unveiled the F.K.P. Hommage—a one-of-one masterpiece commissioned through its exclusive Programme Solitaire. Built on the foundations of the open-top Bugatti Mistral to preserve the Veyron’s classic flatter window line, this bespoke hypercar is a direct tribute to Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Karl Piëch, the engineering visionary who spearheaded the original 1,001 PS project. While it shares the modern 1,600 PS W16 underpinnings of the Chiron Super Sport, its aesthetic is a refined, contemporary reflection of the 2005 icon.
The cabin is a masterclass in horological integration, headlined by a bespoke Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon dash clock. Unlike typical digital displays, this 41mm mechanical marvel is seamlessly embedded in the central aluminum console, situated within an engine-turned “island” that mirrors the finish of Ettore Bugatti’s original straight-eight cylinder heads. To ensure the automatic movement remains powered, Bugatti and AP engineered a unique gondola system. Rotating on a diagonal axis several times per hour, this mechanism is powered by the car itself without any electrical connection, using motion to wind the caliber.
The interior represents a complete revolution from recent models, replacing the leather-heavy cabins of the past with Custom Car Couture fabrics woven exclusively in Paris. A perfectly circular Bauhaus-inspired steering wheel and a center console machined from solid aluminum blocks tie the design back to the Veyron’s original purity. With its multi-layer Rouge Jubilé paint and black-tinted carbon fiber, the F.K.P. Hommage stands as a $20 million USD testament to the ultimate fusion of automotive engineering and haute horology.
