The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has officially released its list of 17 nominees for 2026 induction, casting a “wide net” that captures the evolution of youth culture across rap, metal, R&B, and Britpop. Headlining the diverse group are industry heavyweights Phil Collins, Lauryn Hill, and the Wu-Tang Clan.
The 2026 ballot is notable for its high volume of first-time contenders, with ten artists making their debut appearance. This rookie class includes Phil Collins (as a solo artist), Melissa Etheridge, Jeff Buckley, Lauryn Hill, INXS, New Edition, Pink, Shakira, Luther Vandross, and the Wu-Tang Clan. Returning nominees getting another shot at induction include Mariah Carey and Sade (who were both nominated in 2024) along with Billy Idol, The Black Crowes, Joy Division/New Order, and Oasis.
“This diverse list of talented nominees recognizes the ever-evolving faces and sounds of Rock & Roll and its continued impact on youth culture,” said John Sykes, chair of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.
To be eligible, artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior. The final inductees will be voted on by a body of more than 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals.
The Class of 2026 inductees will be revealed in April, alongside honorees for musical influence and excellence.
