Summary

  • Mohammad Limucci’s Porochista piano redefines the traditional concert grand by applying hypercar-inspired biomorphic design and automotive engineering principles

  • The instrument features a striking silhouette of glass and matte composites integrated with a flush 20-inch touchscreen for digital notation and recording

  • Recognized at the A’ Design Awards, the Porochista balances sculptural supercar aesthetics with the acoustic purity required by professional pianists

For centuries, the grand piano has been a silhouette frozen in time, defined by rigid geometry and traditional woodwork. Designer Mohammad Limucci has shattered this aesthetic stagnation with the Porochista, an instrument that reimagines the concert grand through the lens of hypercar engineering and biomorphic futurism.

Spanning nearly nine feet in length, the Porochista swaps traditional veneers for a high-performance cocktail of glass, metal and matte black composites. The design takes heavy cues from the legendary Luigi Colani, featuring flowing, organic transitions and a “floating” rear section that mimics the active aerodynamics of a Pagani or Koenigsegg. Its base, characterized by geometric voids and angular cutouts, achieves the impossible: making a massive structural object appear weightless and light-speed capable.

The most striking innovation is the seamless integration of a 20-inch flush-mounted touchscreen. Eschewing flashy gimmicks, this digital hub serves the modern virtuoso with recording, playback, and animated notation, while a hidden, touch-activated compartment for sheet music keeps the minimalist lines clean. Despite its sci-fi appearance, the Porochista remains an acoustic purist’s dream, ensuring that its “Supercar” exterior never compromises its “Grand” soul. Recently recognized at the A’ Design Awards, this masterpiece suggests that the future of classical music isn’t a period drama—it’s a high-velocity work of art.
