Jacquemus Gets Whimsical for FW26 “Le Palmier”
Confetti motifs, curved ribbons and feather embroideries redefine the Maison’s joyful codes.
Summary
- Jacquemus presented its FW26 “Le Palmier” collection at the Picasso Museum, blending archival dialogue with a festive Parisian setting
- Silhouettes fused 1950s couture, 1990s sensuality, and 1980s humor, defined by geometric forms and reinvented motifs
Jacquemus unveiled its Fall/Winter 2026 collection, “Le Palmier,” at the Picasso Museum in Paris, marking a return to one of the Maison’s most emblematic venues. Staged within a 17th-century mansion, the show evoked the atmospheric glow of an early evening party and marked a decisive new chapter for the independent fashion house.
The collection serves as a deep dialogue with the brand’s archives, specifically drawing inspiration from Simon Porte Jacquemus’ early years in Paris and his daughter’s “palm-tree ponytail”. This muse resulted in a silhouette that blends the sculptural shapes of 1950s couture with a 1990s sensuality and the satirical, technicolor humor of 1980s French cinema.
Geometric shapes defined the silhouettes, with rounded shoulders, tulip waists, circular hats and bias‑cut skirts creating sculptural yet fitted forms. Iconic House signatures such as stripes and polka dots are reinvented as curved grosgrain ribbons and confetti motifs in primary colors and black. A recurring “fish shape” provides a structural foundation for coats and suits, while an elegant “calisson-shape” appears in collar and sleeve details.
For women’s wear, standout garments include mid-length taffeta suits and silk jersey cocktail dresses dramatized by kinetic feather embroideries. Meanwhile, menswear silhouettes offer a mastered nonchalance through graphic patchwork leather overcoats and structured evening tuxedos embellished with black rocaille caviar beading.
Refined craftsmanship is showcased through collaborations with Maison Février and Maison Lemarié, featuring intricate ostrich feather discs and trompe-l’œil pheasant embroidery. Accessory highlights include the signature “Le Valérie” bag, which pays tribute to the 2017 “La Bomba” collection and appears this season in an evening East-West clutch version alongside new “Le Chiquito” colors. From shearling intarsia coats to equestrian-inspired suits, “Le Palmier” celebrates the joyful naturalness and creative ingenuity that have defined the Jacquemus universe since its founding.
