Summary

  • After years of building his repertoire, Kal Banx has officially announced his longform solo debut
  • Banx’s first solo album is entitled Rhoda and is confirmed to release globally on August 15
  • Featured artists include Isaiah Rashad, Smino, Maxo, SiR, Maxo Kream, Buddy, Mez, and many more

Kal Banx‘s credits speak for themselves. Preceded by production contributions for Isaiah Rashad, Smino, Baby Keem, and a plethora of other Top Dawg Entertainment and Dreamville contributions, the seasoned producer has been tapped in throughout the hip-hop zeitgeist for years now. With that being said, it’s hard to believe that Banx is just now gearing up to unveil his first-ever longform endeavor, just today announcing he’ll be dropping his solo debut Rhoda, on Friday, August 15.

Including Rashad and Smi among other seasoned collaborators, Rhoda – which takes a two-disc format – is confirmed to come with a star-studded selection of featured artists including SiR, Maxo Kream, Buddy, Mez, Baby Tate, Maxo, Pink Siifu, Childish Major, and more.

“Grief puts certain things into perspective that you don’t even realize you have until they’re gone,” Banx shared of the album, which is a homage to his recent journey of rediscovery, touching on themes of “self, of origin, and of what ‘home’ truly means” to him after recently losing his mother.

“That led me to realize that home wasn’t just a place; it was made up of all these different feelings and experiences,” Banx closed out.

Additionally, it’s not just lyrical contributors that hop on Rhoda, as Banx also enlists Thelonious Martin to Mez handle additional production throughout the LP.
