The “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme of the Met Gala 2025 extended beyond just clothing, with many celebrities making notable statements through their choice of timepieces. Taking a glimpse into the watch scene and a rundown of the best watches we spotted on the blue carpet, celebrities showed up and showed out in wrist pieces that ranged from those that exude classic elegance to bold and extravagant. Often the watches complemented the tailored looks, adding a personal touch to the interpretations of Black dandyism. Many attendees opted for pieces that showcased intricate design, precious metals, and dazzling embellishments.
Kicking it off, co-chair A$AP Rocky made a statement with the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC, which currently stands as the world’s thinnest mechanical watch at a mere 1.70mm thick. Its sleek design and technical prowess perfectly complemented his sharp tailoring. Pusha T paired his Louis Vuitton custom suit with the highly coveted Rolex “Rainbow” Daytona Cosmograph in its rose gold case and bracelet adorned with diamonds, and the iconic rainbow sapphire bezel. Bollywood icon, Shah Rukh Khan came in hot with serious horological pedigree wearing a Patek Philippe Grand Complication Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar Ref. 5304/301R. This incredibly rare and complex timepiece is valued at over $1.5 million USD.
Jaeger-LeCoultre watches were popular amongst attendees this year, with The Bear star Jeremy Allen White sporting a classic Reverso Tribute Monoface Small Seconds in a rose gold case while Usher wore the Reverso One Duetto featuring 335 diamonds. Jeff Goldblum dazzled in a Jacob & Co. Slender Ashoka while Maluma stunned in a Jacob & Co. Emerald Billionaire III, an extravagant 76 emerald-cut emeralds set on the case and bracelet. Jon Batiste wore a striking Cartier Panthère de Cartier Zebree. This bold watch featured a rose gold case and bracelet set with diamonds and spessartite gemstones with black and golden-brown lacquer stripes, making it a true statement piece. Another standout includes Shaboozey‘s Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch with a turquoise dial which aligned with the turquoise beading that adorned his black collared tank top and even matched his custom grills.
