Many can attest to the power of Wikipedia. It’s responsible for archiving cultural collateral — you have a question, and the world’s largest online encyclopedia has an answer. Sustainable German label ARMEDANGELS has joined forces with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit that powers the heart of the internet, Wikipedia. The collaborative capsule introduces T-shirts, hoodies and lifestyle accessories such as caps and socks, derived from 100% cotton sourced through RCO100® technology by Säntis Textiles, an innovative and eco-conscious manufacturing solution currently gaining traction in the fashion industry.

Considering ARMEDANGELS’ commitment to creating a more circular economy in fashion, the brand’s stance on fighting for accessible information and knowledge rings true to its identity and design ethos. Wikipedia operates under a robust community of volunteer editors who uphold the site’s archive of over six million English-language articles containing unbiased information.

Instantly recognizable iconography from the site distinguishes the collection, paying homage to the universal power of the World Wide Web. Knowledge is a currency and power in itself, and this collection champions empowering yourself and expanding your understanding of the world with independent and open platforms like Wikipedia. Creative Director of ARMEDANGELS, Christiane Bördner, shares her inspiration for the collection: “Every piece in this collection carries a message of knowledge, access, and impact: from the freedom to learn to the responsibility to share information. With clear, wearable statements, ARMEDANGELS shows that fashion can convey values and be a force for change.”

Highlights from the capsule include a highlighter yellow shirt stamped with the definition of equality; another colorway in solid blue provides an asterisk denoting “Freedom,” nodding to ARMEDANGELS’ rallying call to keep information accessible and collaborative for all. A famous photograph of Mother Earth, “The Blue Marble,” captured on December 7, 1972, adorns the hoodies offered in white and black styles. “Yes I know*” messaging hits the Yenaas Wikipedia Cap, a minimalist design nodding to the agency bestowed upon one by properly nurturing a curious and altruistic mind. Lastly, smaller accessories, like the white-and-blue colorblocked socks, prompt consumers to walk their talk and make strides toward the truth through intentional fact-checking — wiki edits or not.

Check out the collection in the galleries above. Cite your sources, stay educated and head to ARMEDANGELS’ website to shop the capsule. Keep the internet’s trusted encyclopedia, Wikipedia, open and independent by donating to the site today.
