In a major Atlanta meet-up, 2 Chainz and Lil Yachty got back in the studio together for the first time since 2018, when the pair collaborated on Lil Boat 2 cut “OOPS.” This time around, the hometown-sharing hip-hop heavyweights have shared a new single dubbed “Sista Wives,” which marks the second official single to come from 2 Chainz’s Red Clay short film.
A high-octane two-and-a-half-minute offering, “Sista Wives” is a masterful display of the effortless chemistry between the two rappers.
Boat kicks it off strong, spitting “Just because your friends hit it, don’t think that y’all sister wives (Yeah) / All alone, walkin’ through New York with three throwin’ knives / Outside, rarely do I hide, I just know my role / One bullet, sent him to a dream, feel like Jermaine Cole (Damn).”
He hands it off seamlessly to 2 Chainz for the second verse, asserting a sharp stack of bars, starting off with “Foreign car, talkin’ to my watch just like Michael Knight / Boxer shorts smell like Baccarat, known to pop a lot (Pop it) / All my cars orange, you can’t miss ‘em in the parking lot” and only heating up from there.
The track also arrives in tandem with its official music video, a stripped-down yet still striking visual. Shaded in a black-and-white colorway, the minimalistic visual component sees the two rappers vibing to the track in spotlit room.
