IWC’s 2025 Lineup Blends Haute Horology with Hollywood and F1 Heat
Showcased at this year’s Watches & Wonders.
At Watches & Wonders 2025, IWC Schaffhausen unveiled an impressive lineup of timepieces designed to push the boundaries of material innovation, technical mastery and cinematic storytelling. Leading the charge is the Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber Tourbillon Skeleton XPL, a fusion of IWC’s patented SPRIN-g PROTECT system and a delicate tourbillon, housed in a skeletonized Ceratanium case. The Ingenieur collection expanded with the compact Ingenieur Automatic 35 in gold and steel, alongside the bold Ingenieur Automatic 40 in solid 18-carat 5N gold. A special green-dial Ingenieur Automatic 40 followed, inspired by Brad Pitt’s character in the upcoming F1 film, and was joined by the all-black Ingenieur Automatic 42 in full ceramic — a first for the collection. Tapping further into the F1 universe, IWC introduced three APXGP-themed Pilot’s Chronographs, celebrating its on-screen role in the film. Finally, the brand capped off its showcase with the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month, a highly technical piece in Ceratanium featuring a digital perpetual calendar display and flyback chronograph function.
Big Pilot Watch Shock Absorber Tourbillon Skeleton XPL
IWC Schaffhausen’s new Big Pilot’s Watch Shock Absorber Tourbillon Skeleton XPL (Ref. IW357701) marks a major innovation by pairing the brand’s patented SPRIN-g PROTECT shock absorber system with the delicate tourbillon complication for the first time. Developed by IWC’s experimental engineering division XPL, the timepiece features a re-engineered cantilever spring made of bulk metallic glass (BMG), offering extraordinary elasticity to protect the flying minute tourbillon movement — even surviving shock tests over 10,000g. The 44mm Ceratanium case houses the ultra-light skeletonized 82915 calibre, which includes ceramic-reinforced Pellaton winding and an 80-hour power reserve. With its futuristic design and rubber-patterned strap, this cutting-edge watch is limited to 100 pieces.
Ingenieur Automatic 35
The Ingenieur lineup is also seeing an expansion with the new Ingenieur Automatic 35. Inspired by Gérald Genta’s iconic 1970s Ingenieur SL, this compact 35mm model retains all the signature design elements — like the bezel with five functional screws, the integrated bracelet and the distinctive “Grid” dial — while offering refined ergonomics and a slimmer 9.4mm profile. Available in three variations, including a luxurious 18-carat 5N gold edition and two stainless steel options with silver-plated or black dials, each timepiece is powered by the 47110 calibre automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve, visible through a sapphire glass case back. The result is a versatile and beautifully finished sports watch that blends heritage design with modern proportions.
Ingenieur Automatic 40 18-Carat 5N Gold
Another addition to the Ingenieur collection is the new Ingenieur Automatic 40 in 18-carat 5N gold (Ref. IW328702), a striking blend of technical precision and opulent design. The solid gold case and integrated bracelet are paired with a richly textured black “Grid” dial, detailed with gold-plated hands and solid gold appliques filled with Super-LumiNova. Powered by the IWC-manufactured 32111 calibre, the watch boasts a 120-hour power reserve and is visible through a sapphire glass case back. Finishing touches like satin-finished and polished surfaces across the case and bracelet elevate the piece with refined contrast and depth.
Ingenieur Automatic 40 SONNY HAYES F1
Paying tribute to the high-octane world of Formula One, IWC’s new Ingenieur Automatic 40 with a green dial (Ref. IW328908) is a special edition inspired by the watch worn by Brad Pitt’s character, Sonny Hayes, in the upcoming F1 flim. Limited to 1,000 pieces, this stainless steel timepiece echoes the custom green-dialed Ingenieur SL from the film, blending cinematic flair with racing heritage. The vibrant green “Grid” dial is accented with gold-plated appliques and hands filled with Super-LumiNova, while the IWC-manufactured 32111 calibre delivers a robust 120-hour power reserve. A soft-iron inner case adds magnetic resistance, reinforcing its technical pedigree for both track and street.
Ingenieur Automatic 42 in Black Ceramic
Rounding out the new Ingenieur lineup is the Ingenieur Automatic 42 in black ceramic (Ref. IW338903), a bold evolution of the Genta-inspired design crafted entirely from ultra-hard zirconium oxide. This marks the first full-ceramic execution of the Ingenieur’s integrated bracelet architecture, made possible through a new three-part case construction that remains faithful to the original stainless steel proportions. The all-black design extends from the case and bracelet to the “Grid” dial, hands and appliques — each treated with a meticulous mix of satin-finishing, sandblasting and polishing. Powered by the IWC-manufactured 82110 calibre with a 60-hour power reserve and ceramic components in the Pellaton winding system, the watch balances toughness with elegance, visible through a tinted sapphire case back.
Pilot Chronographs Apxgp Team F1 Movie Collection
To further celebrate its role as the official team watch of the fictional APXGP team in the upcoming F1 movie, IWC Schaffhausen introduces three new Pilot’s Chronographs inspired by the film’s racing world. The lineup includes the luxurious Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 (Ref. IW388309) in 18-carat 5N gold with a black lacquered dial and ceramic tachymeter bezel — worn by Damson Idris’ character, Joshua Pearce. Joining it are two stainless steel models: the 43mm Pilot’s Watch Chronograph APXGP (Ref. IW378009) and the 41mm Chronograph 41 APXGP (Ref. IW388116), both featuring black dials with gold accents, engraved rubber straps and tinted sapphire case backs stamped with the APXGP team logo. All three are powered by the IWC-manufactured 69385 calibre, a column-wheel chronograph movement engineered for precision, reliability and race-ready performance.
Pilot Watch Performance Chronograph Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month
Capping off its new releases, IWC introduces the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month (Ref. IW388801), a technical marvel crafted from Ceratanium — a proprietary material that fuses the lightness of titanium with the hardness of ceramic. The 43mm timepiece features a bold black-on-black aesthetic, highlighted by a polished ceramic tachymeter bezel and a uniquely textured hammered dial. Its standout function is a digitally displayed perpetual calendar with oversized golden discs for the date and month, driven by the IWC-manufactured 89802 calibre comprising 474 components. This complex movement also powers a chronograph with flyback function and a 68-hour power reserve, all visible through a tinted sapphire case back.
