Fyre Festival 2 Has Been Officially Postponed
Tickets have been refunded and no new date has been confirmed.
Just two months before the event was supposed to happen, Fyre Festival 2 has officially been postponed. Ticket holders received a message that the they have been refunded and the festival will happen at a later date.
The festival gained a poor reputation after its disastrous 2017 event. Founder Billy McFarland announced the sequel to the festival of the same name, previously revealing that it would take place in Mexico between May 30 and June 2. ABC News reported that organizers sent ticket holders a message stating, “The event has been postponed and a new date will be announced. We have issued you a refund. Once the new date is announced, at that time, you can repurchase if it works for your schedule.”
McFarland spent almost four years in prison after he was convicted of wire fraud, defrauding investors out of $27.4 million USD for the first festival. Due to its negative reputation, the sequel festival had a rocky start with he Isla Mujeres government confirming there was no permit in place for the festival when the tickets were being sold in February. Tickets for Fyre Festival 2 began at $1,400 USD for GA. VIP access would cost $5,000 USD while artist access would be $25,000 USD. For $1.1 million USD, guests could receive the Prometheus God of Fyre package which is for eight people, including amenities, a four-stateroom yacht and 24/7 private chauffeur service. The festival had claimed that this package was sold out.
So far, no new date has been confirmed for Fyre Festival 2.
