Renault Shares Closer Look at New 5 Turbo 3E
An EV pushing over 500 hp, which it dubs the “first electric mini-supercar.”

Update: Since its initial reveal, Renault has confirmed that the Renault 5 Turbo 3E will be a limited-production model, with only 1,980 numbered units available, reinforcing its exclusivity. The electric hot hatch is now classified as a “mini-supercar”, a new segment defined by its compact footprint yet supercar-like agility and performance. Notably, Renault has upgraded its power output to 540 hp, allowing it to achieve a 0-62 mph time of under 3.5 seconds.
Built on a custom platform, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E benefits from an 800-volt architecture, enabling ultra-fast 350 kW DC charging, which can charge the battery from 15% to 80% in just 15 minutes. Additionally, the model will offer extensive customization options, with a wide selection of exterior liveries and interior trims to create bespoke configurations. Set to arrive in showrooms in 2027, reservations for this high-performance EV will open in the coming weeks.
Original Story: Renault has officially confirmed the Renault 5 Turbo 3E as a production model, which was revealed in an unorthodox way during the finale of the Anatomy of a Comeback documentary series on Prime Video. The series, which premiered on December 13, explores Renault’s transformative “Renaulution” and culminates with a thrilling Easter egg: a sneak peek at the all-electric Renault 5 Turbo 3E.
This modern reinterpretation of the iconic Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2 of the 1980s combines retro styling with modern technology. Echoing its rallying heritage, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E features motorsport-inspired livery, a lightweight carbon structure and a rear-wheel drive layout. Powered by two electric motors located in the rear wheels, the hot hatch delivers nearly 500 hp and a 0-62 mph time of 3.5 seconds.
The car’s retro-futuristic design incorporates modern touches like a charging port integrated into the rear air intake, while maintaining stylistic nods to its Turbo predecessors. Described as a “pocket rocket,” the Renault 5 Turbo 3E aims to provide exhilarating driving performance and lightning-fast acceleration.
Notably, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E is set to launch alongside exclusive activations in 2025, with details on price and availability yet to be announced at the time of writing.
