Ethel Cain Announces New LP 'Willoughby Tucker, I Will Always Love You' and 2025 World Tour
Her sophomore record will act as a prequel to her 2022 album ‘Preacher’s Daughter.’
Ethel Cain took to her Instagram today to announce the release of her next album Willoughby Tucker, I Will Always Love You, along with an extensive list of global tour dates. Expanding upon the narrative she built in her 2022 LP Preacher’s Daughter, the next album will serve as a prequel to the project that contained popular songs like “Strangers” and “American Teenager.”
The artist kicked off the morning by teasing eerie imagery from her forthcoming project, including photographs taken by Silken Weinberg. Contrary to Preacher’s Daughter, which focussed on Cain’s character, the new album centers on Willoughby Tucker, her fictional boyfriend. In the dark, faded photos Cain and Tucker sit across from each other in an open field, and in the album cover, the back of Tucker’s head is framed by an antique-style portrait.
The forthcoming project marks Cain’s second LP within the last year, following the release of Perverts in 2025, an experimental ambient album that departed from the electronic folk pop found on Preacher’s Daughter. As the artist returns to the storyline she developed in the 2022 record, it’s not certain whether she will return to her more radio-friendly style or continue exploring the more avant-garde themes explored on Perverts.
Along with the album announcement, which is slated for release in August 2025, Cain has shared a long list of tour dates stopping throughout North America and Europe. With the tour, Cain announced a partnership with the Ally Coalition, which will donate $1 from every ticket sale to organizations supporting the trans community.
