  • Amazon Studios and Crystal Dynamics announced two new Tomb Raider games, both starring Alix Wilton Regan as Lara Croft
  • Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is a UE5 reimagining of the 1996 original for 2026, co-developed by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog

Amazon Studios and Crystal Dynamics are honoring the legendary Tomb Raider (1996) with a reimagining of the beloved game.

Dubbed Legacy of Atlantis, the title is developed by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog and was unveiled at The Game Awards 2025. The video game is powered by Unreal Engine 5 and promises “modern game design” as well as “new surprises that honor the spirit and atmosphere of the original game.” Players will go through deadly terrain, puzzles and, of course, dinosaurs as they recover the scattered pieces of the powerful artifact, the Scion.

“Our collaboration with Amazon Game Studios has been truly transformative for these ambitious projects,” said Scot Amos, head of studio at Crystal Dynamics. “Amazon’s partnership has provided the resources, expertise, and creative freedom necessary to realize our vision for both games without compromise.”

In addition, Amazon Studios will be releasing a second Tomb Raider game in 2027 titled Catalyst. The game has been in development by Crystal Dynamics since 2022, and is billed as “the largest Tomb Raider game to date.” Catalyst will see Lara traverse Northern India to find “recently unearthed secrets, and the mysterious forces that guard them, as the ancient world dramatically collides with the present.”

Tomb Raider stands among gaming’s most beloved and enduring franchises, and we’re thrilled to partner with Crystal Dynamics to bring two distinct Lara Croft adventures to players worldwide,” said Christoph Hartmann, vice president of Amazon Game Studios. “This innovative new chapter with Tomb Raider: Catalyst, and the thoughtful reinvention of the series’s roots with Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, perfectly exemplifies our commitment to supporting developers with bold creative visions.”

Both video games will star Alix Wilton Regan, known for her work on Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Assassin’s Creed Origins and Dota: Dragon’s Blood, as Lara Croft.

Watch the trailer for Legacy of Atlantis and Catalyst below. Legacy of Atlantis is set to release in 2026 while Catalyst will drop in 2027. Both titles will be available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam.
