Currently offered via SBX Cars, this 1970 Porsche 914 Targa is a definitive piece of automotive history, representing the mid-engined collaboration between Porsche and Volkswagen. While the 914 was originally conceived to provide VW with a sports flagship and Porsche with an accessible entry-level roadster, this specific chassis is unique. It was hand-selected by Porsche Cars Great Britain for a 500-hour, factory-backed restoration to celebrate the brand’s 70th anniversary, making it the only factory-restored 914 of its kind. To commemorate this milestone, the vehicle was finished in an exclusive Liquid Silver (code POR9S8) paint derived from the 918 Spyder, accented with 70th Anniversary decals and black bumper trim.
The mechanical heart of this Targa is a longitudinally mid-mounted 1.7-liter flat-four, which was completely rebuilt during the factory restoration to ensure optimal, factory-fresh performance. Utilizing Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection, the air-cooled engine produces approximately 80 horsepower and 98 lb-ft of torque, delivered through a rebuilt five-speed manual transaxle. The driving dynamics are further sharpened by a sport suspension featuring semi-trailing arms and coil springs, as well as a refined four-wheel disc brake system.
The interior has been equally elevated, featuring black leather upholstery and bucket seats that were replaced during the restoration process. The cabin balances heritage with modern convenience, boasting a custom center console with an integrated Bluetooth audio system and a Classic Vehicle Tracking System.
