  • The items can be purchased exclusively through eBay on Hypegolf Japan’s new store

New York–based Gumtree Golf & Nature Club has announced a limited-edition collection in collaboration with online marketplace eBay. The lineup consists of three styles: driver headcovers, fairway wood headcovers and a shoe bag—all upcycled from camel-colored canvas tents dating back to the 1950s.

This collaboration came to life through the curation of Hypegolf Japan. With this launch, Hypegolf Japan has opened an eBay store and will release the collection domestically for a limited time. Known as a marketplace rich in vintage and pre-owned goods, eBay has produced numerous exclusive collaborations with major brands. Particularly within fashion, the platform has cultivated its own culture, drawing passionate buyers—often referred to as “enthusiasts”—from around the world who hunt for rare, one-of-a-kind pieces. In recent years, demand for pre-loved items and refreshed products has surged as awareness around circular consumption has grown.

According to Gumtree Golf & Nature Club founder Karsten Jurkschat, he has long used eBay to source vintage tents, fabrics and quilts. “We rarely collaborate with big brands, but if there’s a genuine connection, it’s different,” Jurkschat explains. “eBay was a perfect match. I’ve sourced countless vintage tents, fabrics and quilts from eBay sites around the world—it’s truly a treasure trove of amazing materials, all waiting for a second life.”

The biggest appeal of this collection is that every piece is one-of-a-kind. The faded burnt orange and mustard canvas carries natural patina developed over decades of aging, complemented by brass D-rings and off-white camping rope details that evoke a deep love for outdoor and golf culture. Each item incorporates vintage textiles collected from all over the United States, meaning traces of wear, stains and scuffs remain—but those marks are exactly what make the products special. Their charm lies in embracing these signs of “long-lived use” as character.

Thoughtful craftsmanship appears in the functionality as well—from brown felt lining to stretch rings that secure the club head. The driver cover fits heads up to 460cc, while the fairway wood cover accommodates everything from mini drivers to hybrids. Some pieces feature patches or ribbons, and differences in stitching or tent panel placement ensure that each item is truly one-of-one.

Pricing is approximately ¥19,268 JPY ($125 USD) for driver covers, ¥15,415 JPY ($100 USD) for wood covers, and ¥20,810 JPY ($135 USD) for shoe bags. Note that these products are sold on eBay.com, so prices are displayed and paid in US dollars (Japanese yen amounts will vary depending on exchange rates at the time of purchase). The project serves a charitable purpose—100% of proceeds will be donated to PGA Junior League, an organization supporting youth golfers.

This collection bridges past and present, infused with respect for nature and culture. It embodies Gumtree’s philosophy of breathing new life into vintage materials—something worth experiencing firsthand.
