Summary
- BAPE collaborates with Kaikai Kiki artist Mr. on an anime-inspired streetwear collection
- Iconic pieces like the Shark Hoodie and BAPE STA feature provocative otaku motifs
- The capsule launches December 20 at Japanese BAPE stores and online
BAPE has announced a collaborative collection with Japanese artist Mr., a prominent member of Takashi Murakami‘s Kaikai Kiki studio. Mr. is renowned for a style that blends elements of anime, video games, and otaku culture; this collection successfully channels that signature vibrancy into modern streetwear.
The collaboration reinterprets BAPE essentials—including classic t-shirts, the full-zip SHARK HOODIE, and the BAPE STA sneaker—through the artist’s colorful lens. A major highlight is the hoodie, where the signature shark face is replaced with a blushing anime character’s face when fully zipped. The BAPE STA is equally central, featuring numerous anime motifs that bring Mr.’s playful and provocative illustration style to life.
With prices ranging from ¥15,400 JPY to ¥51,700 JPY (approx. $100 USD – $330 USD), the Mr. x BAPE collection will launch on December 20. It will be available at select BAPE STORE locations in Japan and on the brand’s official website. Check out the full collection above.
