TAG Heuer has unveiled the Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1 limited edition at At Dubai Watch Week 2025. The timepiece represents one of the brand’s most complex creations to date, rooted in its motorsport DNA and channeling the aerodynamic lines of hypercars through its ultra-lightweight Grade-5 titanium case. Produced using Selective Laser Melting (SLM). This advanced additive manufacturing technique, adapted by the brand’s innovation department, allows for intricate geometries previously impossible in traditional watchmaking, resulting in a sculptural form that appears hollowed out for speed and airflow.
The 41mm case design combines taut lines and muscular edges with a twin-layered honeycomb mesh inspired by hypercar engine covers. Contrasting materials heighten the visual impact: titanium lattices frame the movement, while laser-cut solid 2N yellow gold elements add a precious yet high-tech dimension.
A black DLC-coated titanium bezel enhances the assertive profile, while sapphire crystals on both sides reveal the intricate mechanics within. Golden chronograph hands, markers, and a split-seconds pusher at 9 o’clock—crafted in yellow gold as a nod to the original Monaco crown—complete the bold aesthetic. Despite its complexity, the watch weighs just 85 grams, delivering an exceptional weight-to-performance ratio.
At its core, the Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1 is powered by the Calibre TH81-00, a high-frequency automatic movement developed in collaboration with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier. Beating at 36,000 vibrations per hour and offering a 65-hour power reserve, the movement is crafted largely from titanium, ensuring both lightness and durability. Its rattrapante function enables precise timing of simultaneous events, such as lap comparisons in Formula 1 racing. Hand-finished with TAG Heuer’s signature checkered flag motif, the movement underscores the brand’s commitment to performance and design innovation.
Limited to just 30 numbered pieces, the Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph Air 1 will be available through TAG Heuerstarting December, retailing for 150,000 CHF (approx. $187,110 USD).
