Parmigiani Fleurier has reinterpreted its groundbreaking complication with the release of the Tonda PF Minute Rattrapante “Arctic Rose” in stainless steel, unveiled at Dubai Watch Week. The original Minute Rattrapante, which debuted in 2023, was a world first in watchmaking, designed not merely to measure performance but to offer a unique experience: the ability to add time on demand. This innovative complication transforms the complex idea of extending a moment into an intuitive gesture, aligning with the Maison’s philosophy of “private luxury” — a refined, understated, and cultured expression of time that invites the wearer to reclaim their own rhythm.
The aesthetic of the “Arctic Rose” model is characterized by a sophisticated palette and intricate finishing. The 40mm stainless steel case features a hand-knurled Platinum 950 bezel and a seamlessly integrated bracelet. The dial itself, finished with the fine Grain d’Orge hand-guilloché motif (a signature since 1996), shifts between pale rose and crystalline reflections under light. The choice of the “Arctic Rose” hue is a deliberate reconnection with a forgotten 18th-century tradition when rose was a symbol of refinement worn by men, affirming an aesthetic freed from modern convention.
Powering this innovative mechanism is the automatic Manufacture Calibre PF052, which achieves the world’s first Minute Rattrapante function within a slender architecture of just 4.9 mm thick. The complication is operated by two pushers (one at 10 o’clock to add a minute, one at 8 o’clock to add five) and the crown to reset. The rhodium-plated hand indicates real time, while the rose gold hand marks the chosen interval. The movement, visible through the case back, comprises 271 components and features a 48-hour power reserve. Its decoration is finished to the highest standards, including Côtes de Genève, Perlage, and bevelled bridges, with a 22-carat rose gold micro-rotor echoing the dial’s Grain d’Orge guilloché.
