Kiko Kostadinov Draws on the British Countryside for Its Latest Collection
The ‘DANTE’ collection uses the label’s resident Lakeland terrier as a portal to explore countryside dress.
Summary:
- Kiko Kostadinov’s ‘DANTE’ collection draws inspiration from the label’s resident Lakeland terrier, using the dog’s daily life as a lens to explore and reinterpret traditional British countryside dressing.
- The collection reimagines rural staples like tweed suiting, rugby tops, and riding attire across menswear and womenswear.
- The show also unveiled a new collaboration with Dr. Martens, part of a limited-edition Made in England release crafted from reclaimed leather and set to launch in February 2026.
Coinciding with the opening of its new London flagship, Kiko Kostadinov’s latest collection, DANTE, captures the unique aesthetic of British countryside dressing – specifically using the label’s resident dog, Dante, as the central inspiration.
As the brand notes in its press release, caring for a dog involves an “unending dance” of encounters: daily walks outside regardless of the weather, or impromptu excursions in the name of companionship. These activities call for outfit choices that may not have been intentional, yet somehow end up working – creating the kind of effortless style that has been associated with the British countryside for years.
To create the DANTE collection, Kiko Kostadinov’s team used Lakeland terrier Dante’s daily presence in the design studio as a portal to this sense of Britishness. The unplanned adventures that come with caring for Dante allowed the team to dress in ways they might not have otherwise – cultivating a newfound appreciation for spontaneous outdoor style.
Fittingly, the collection reimagines countryside staples – from rugby tops and sleeveless cardigans to traditional tweed suiting, modernized with unconventional cuts and more street-ready styling. Standouts from the menswear include heavyweight Japanese jersey pieces, a lightweight washed cotton parka and trouser set, and a series of denim and twill looks from the new Levi’s® x Kiko Kostadinov collaboration.
For the first time, womenswear was also presented alongside menswear in the same collection. Reimagined riding suits appear with leather patch detailing, alongside long apron-like shirting with button-adjusted panels and cashmere jacquard intarsia knit tops with pleated necklines. Standout pieces include gradient tartan trousers, Aran knit sweaters, double wool slip dresses, and asymmetrical tops.
Across both menswear and womenswear, Lakeland terrier motifs appear throughout – on emblem prints, crests, patches, intarsia knits, silk linings, brooches, buttons, labels, and pins. The canine references even extend into material experimentation, such as dog-coat-effect mohair cardigans and blanket scarves, or hair-like shaved printed patent leather used on heeled gaiters and patches applied to reconstructed Charvet shirts.
Collectively, the collection presents an imaginative, slightly warped interpretation of British countryside dressing – pushing the aesthetic into a contemporary realm that encourages ongoing experimentation without compromising timeless style.
Finally, the show, which took place in the brands Haggerston studio, also marked the public reveal of an upcoming limited-edition Made in England collaboration with Dr. Martens, crafted from reclaimed leather and set for release in February 2026. The capsule will feature refined one-eye lace-ups in embossed green suede and patent leather for women, and black leather velcro-strap workwear shoes for men.
