Tobey McIntosh has always seen skateboarding as far more than just a four-wheeled sport. The Crenshaw Skate Club founder and creative director has continued to flesh out the streetwear imprint’s scope through the lens of skate, specifically its significance in Southern California.
For the first drop of Crenshaw Skate Club’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection, McIntosh is breathing new life into the brand’s pillar, introducing a new mantra, “Skate To Empower.”
The capsule spans a plethora of tailored silhouettes like varsity jackets and dyed workwear, alongside new “Skate To Empower”-stamped graphic tees.
“For us, skating is more than expression, it’s a vehicle for empowerment,” McIntosh said of the collection. “We don’t just skate for ourselves; we skate to uplift our communities and inspire those who come after us.”
The mentality bleeds into the work jackets, dipped in red, black, and green camouflage dye, lifting inspiration from David Hammons’ African American Flag, symbolizing pride and resilience.
Even down to the lookbook, the pursuit of creative resistance shines through. Shot during the brand’s annual New York City trip, both seasoned city skaters and young California skaters come together to front the new range in motion at legendary skate spots like the Brooklyn Banks.
