Summary:

  • A Kind Of Guise’s FW25 collection, Altai Mirage, draws from Mongolia’s vast landscapes and rugged terrain.
  • Artist Jonathan Niclaus created a custom artwork inspired by the freedom of horseback riding across the steppe, printed on the brand’s signature corduroy.
  • The collection blends durable materials, traditional motifs like the purple dragon, and refined craftsmanship to celebrate the raw beauty of the Altai.

Twice a year, Munich-based brand A Kind Of Guise immerses itself in a different location, using the local environment and culture as the foundation for its seasonal narrative and collection.

For SS22, Colombia served as the base of inspiration, and for AW23, Iceland. Now, for FW25, A Kind Of Guise draws on Mongolian culture – specifically Mongolia’s “endless landscapes” and “rugged terrain” – to create its latest collection, Altai Mirage.

A standout element of the collection is the narrative of boundless freedom – capturing the feeling of a horse running across the vast Mongolian steppe. Artist Jonathan Niclaus channeled this sensation into an original artwork on paper, which was then printed onto the brand’s signature Italian cotton corduroy. The result is a wearable piece of art inspired by Mongolia’s nature, crafted with care, quality, and timeless design.

Cohesively, the collection translates this inspiration into all the clothing seen, echoing the landscapes through design, material, and detail. Durable fabrics like lambswool and hairy wool blends provide warmth and resilience, while traditional motifs – such as the purple dragon emblem – pay homage to Mongolian heritage. Other key pieces include the Dragon Wool Jacket and the Khivs Pullover, both crafted with traditional techniques in mind while also paying tribute to the raw beauty of the Altai.
