For Tommy Bogo‘s return to New York Fashion Week, the boundary-pushing Bay Area designer left it all on the runway – that is, a futuristic modular USM-designed set that encircled the penthouse of Manhattan’s NeueHouse Madison Square. TOMBOGO Spring/Summer 2025, entitled “Reverse Engineering,” zoomed in on the details of the label’s design fundamentals and techniques, consisting of a conceptual runway performance that extrapolated the process behind the experimental pieces.

“With ‘Reverse Engineering,’ we didn’t just present a collection; we invited our audience to experience the deconstruction and reconstruction of fashion,” said Bogo of the collection. Models walked down the first runway, then turned to meet the “lab techs” – in silver-studded white hazmat suits – atop another platform, where the techs inspected and elevated each look, adding bags, eyewear, or other accessories onto the outfit.

Spanning 27 unisex looks, the cult-followed brand’s showcase was a star-studded one, complete with appearances from Rich Amiri, AUDREY NUNA, Duckwrth, Billyracxx, UnoTheActivist and AKTHESAVIOR.

Detachability is a dominant theme, with a majority of the modular range complete with customizable features. Utilitarian jackets stand out in shape and structure and include an adaptable array of silhouettes including bombers, cropped jackets, moto jackets, and trench coats.

Bogo also goes big on the pocketing – adding ample to jackets, baggy pants and skirts – and the bags. A multitude of oversized pocketed bags stand out on the accessory front, with TOMBOGO Tabi Swiper Mules leading the footwear stampede. The presentation also signaled Bogo’s foray into the music space, with the designer’s first original single under the TOMBOGO name “Another Time” serving as the backing track.

“Each piece told a story of functionality meeting creativity, sustainability meeting style. The addition of my personal music to the show added another layer to this story, allowing our audience to connect with the emotion and inspiration behind the designs. By literally deconstructing our creative process on the runway, we offered a unique insight into the TOMBOGO ethos.”
