Designer Satoshi Nakamoto got his start by selling bespoke Vans sneakers — and his unique craftsman’s eye, coupled with an eager audience, eventually led to a full-on collaboration with OTW By Vans that dropped at the top of August. Now, with New York Fashion Week in full swing, OTW By Vans has produced a friends-and-family-only colorway of Nakamoto’s collaborative Old Skool Reissue 36 collaboration.

Revealed in full at OTW by Vans’ New York Fashion Week pop-up, which recreated legendary Lower East Side bar Max Fish, the friends-and-family sneakers follow the same general theme as their retail release iteration but swap out the colorblocking for an alternate look. Uppers feature a rich burgundy canvas accented by black suede overlays and Jazz Stripes plus white contrast stitching and are adorned by Nakamoto’s signature bejeweled details. Other embellishments include a checkerboard tongue, text hits on the laces and an (artificially) heavily-aged midsole that nods to the Old Skool’s earliest days. This vintage theme is continued on the box, which boasts its own faded details and Nakamoto’s name scrawled on the lid.

Though you won’t be able to snag a pair of these for yourself unless you’ve got a top-tier plug at OTW By Vans, you can get a detailed look at ‘em through the unboxing video above.
