Nike and MoMA Design Store Launch First Official Collaboration
Dropping limited-edition MoMA Nike Everyday Sock for its first in series co-branded products.
Nike and MoMA Design Store have launched their first official collaboration series of limited-edition and co-branded products. In the past, Nike and MoMA Design Store have had a long-standing relationship and this time, the duo are continuing to expand its partnership through as series of exclusive product drops that embody fitness and style.
The limited-edition product releases kick off with a MoMA Nike Everyday Sock collaboration. Each of the co-branded releases will underscore Nike and MoMA’s connection to movement and design, taking inspiration from everyday objects. While it is not the first partnership venture between the two, this does mark the first time official Nike x MoMA Design Store products will be dropping. 2017 was a key year in Nike and MoMA’s relationship where MoMA Design Store and The Museum of Modern Art’s curatorial program brought three examples of the original 1980 design for Nike’s Air Force 1 sneakers to MoMA’s exhibit, Items: Is Fashion Modern? The sneakers sat in the exhibit that featured 111 clothing items and accessories that have had a strong impact on the world in the 20th and 21st centuries. In 2018, their partnership continued when MoMA Design Store launched the OFF-WHITE™ by Virgil Abloh x Nike Air Force 1, accompanied by a co-branded MoMA Nike Elite basketball sock.
The first product in the latest collaborative series sees the MoMA Nike Everyday Sock co-branded with the iconic Swoosh and MoMA branding on the calf. The “Just Do It” motif is stitched at the toe and arrives in the classic white, blue, green, pink and yellow. Nike and MoMA are teaming up for more collaborative drops soon but as of now, they will only be releasing a selection of colorful socks which are now available for $18 USD a pair online at MoMA.
