Mercedes-Benz Teams Up with Sony Pictures for In-Car Entertainment
Through a service called “RIDEVU” that offers blockbuster films, which can be streamed on up to six screens.
Mercedes-Benz has introduced a new entertainment experience for its customers through a collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment. The RIDEVU service, accessible via the MBUX infotainment system, brings a movie experience directly to vehicles. The service offers a wide selection of blockbuster films, which customers can stream on up to six screens within the car or on connected devices.
RIDEVU is available to owners with an active MBUX Entertainment Package Plus subscription in select markets, including Germany, the UK and Ireland. Users can enjoy the app’s extensive catalog, which is regularly updated with new releases. Additionally, customers can rent or purchase movies, with recent cinematic titles and classics available in high-definition.
The interface allows seamless browsing, streaming and content sharing between screens. Mercedes-Benz is also planning to expand the service with premium audio formats for vehicles equipped with Burmester sound systems. Future updates will include content synchronization across multiple screens, enhancing the experience further. As Chief Software Officer Magnus Östberg notes, the collaboration with Sony Pictures is designed to elevate in-car entertainment, offering a cutting-edge, theater-like experience that aligns with the Mercedes-Benz brand.
As a safety precaution, the driver can only gain access to the app via the central display when the car is parked or while DRIVE PILOT is activated.
