JAY-Z is no stranger to some of the rarest timepieces in the world. Adding to his collection last weekend, the business mogul stepped out to attend Fanatics Fest in a one-of-a-kind watch. While his fit was dressed out to just a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, it was his wrist that did all the talking. A long time friend of the Jacob & Co. house, JAY-Z wore the Bugatti Tourbillon, making him the first person to own the iconic piece worth $340,000 USD.
Over the course of his career, JAY has accumulated some of his rarest timepieces in the world. Adding to his collection is this Bugatti Tourbillon hyperwatch designed by famed, celebrity favorite jeweler, Jacob Arabo. Over the weekend, Arabo aka Jacob the Jeweler, posted to his Instagram of a video of JAY-Z rocking the watch. He boasted the cost of JAY’s watch and in an Instagram caption and wrote, “My dear friend @jayz was the first to own the 5 time zone watch. 25 years later, he’s the first to own the bugatti [tourbillon].” The watch was made in honor of the Bugatti Tourbillon hyper sports car that has an estimated cost of $4.1 million USD.
In another Instagram post, Jacob the Jeweler explained the details of the watch stating, “The Bugatti Tourbillon is the result of months of tireless collaboration between our teams, with each side bringing its expertise to the table. Inspired by Bugatti’s latest hyper sports car, the Tourbillon, the watch mirrors the car’s iconic design elements and groundbreaking technology. The 52 x 44 mm case, crafted to resemble the car’s body, features the front grille, side radiator inlets, and large sapphire side windows.” He added, “Inside, the watch is powered by a V16 engine block automaton made from a single block of transparent sapphire, a nod to Bugatti’s groundbreaking engine architecture. The 30-second flying tourbillon and retrograde hours and minutes, designed to mimic the RPM counter, are feats of engineering that push the boundaries of horology.”
