Megan Thee Stallion Transforms Into a Snake in “Mamushi” Music Video
Referencing a Japanese mythological entity that’s half-woman, half-snake.
Megan Thee Stallion’s new song “Mamushi” featuring Yuki Chiba has been dominating the charts since its release late last month. Produced by Koshy, the name of the song references a type of viper typically found in Japan.
The music video for “Mamushi,” out now, doubles down on the snake reference. In one scene, Megan sits atop a rock at a bathhouse. After submerging herself in the water, she begins slithering towards one of the bathers and transforms into the viper.
The visual draws from Japanese mythology, namely a yōkai known as nure-onna, which has the body of a snake and the head of a woman. After wreaking havoc on the bathhouse, Chiba is left to clean up the mess.
