Here’s What Went Down at Hypefest Hangzhou
A two-day outdoor festival featuring brands and performances by Offset, MASIWEI, Tinashe, J.I.D and more.

The third Hypefest successfully came to a close last weekend at Hangzhou’s Grand Canal Hanggang Park. Following the success of Hypefest Brooklyn in 2018 and Hypefest Aranya in 2023, Hypefest Hangzhou has once again left festival-goers with many unforgettable moments, bridging global music artists with local fans and communities.
From August 10 – 11, Hypefest Hangzhou hosted 14 musical acts alongside a bevy of brands for a two-day carnival. Despite the scorching summer heat and unexpected rainfall, festival-goers remained enthusiastic throughout the event, with every moment becoming a snapshot of contemporary youth culture.
With hip-hop as the main axis, the lineup comprises a diverse combination of genres that span from R&B to Pop. Day 1’s headliners include MASIWEI and J.I.D, who were supported by Vinida, Psy.P, BENZO, AnsrJ and Veegee Xu. Despite a sudden downpour during BENZO’s set, enthusiastic crowds stayed to witness his thrilling performance in the rain. J.I.D’s appearance then pushed the live atmosphere to a climax, keeping the audience on high energy all the way til the next act. Last but surely not least, MASIWEI concluded the first day of Hypefest Hangzhou with a delightful debut performance of his new single, “Passport.”
The highlight of the closing day was undoubtedly Offset’s first show in China, where his live performances of “Bad and Boujee” and “ZEZE” were welcomed with screaming excitement from the audience. Tinashe’s effortless transition from soulful pop ballads to dynamic dance numbers and Digi Ghetto’s unforgettable performance of “Heavy Rain” amid a heavy downpour were also noteworthy moments from Day 2. The closing day’s six-hour audio-visual feast is not complete without performances from the likes of GALI, Awich, ØZI, and Tyson Yoshi.
In addition to the live performances, the festival grounds were filled with a myriad of onsite activities and interactive experiences, presented by brands such as Salomon, Oakley, UPON PRO, Snow Peak, New Era and Magnum. As the title sponsor for Hypefest Hangzhou, Salomon set up the Wild Amusement Park right beside the main stage, where guests indulged in summer beverages, claw machines and dance arcades. In addition, a number of lucky winners were also able to take home Speedcross 3 sneakers.
During the festival, Oakley showcased a selection of eye-catching offerings in the Oakley Hub — a sci-fi-esque pop-up booth space specially designed for the event. On display were many of the brand’s classic and latest sports eyewear, alongside footwear collaborations between its experimental branch, Oakley Factory Team and Brain Dead. Meanwhile, UPON PRO’s Future Block pop-up offered a diverse and interactive space for visitors to browse the brand’s latest fall/winter range, where they could also craft their own balaclavas and sip on drinks, all the while snapping photos with the space’s overhead camera.
Across the site were canopies, tents, tables and chairs exclusively provided by Snow Peak, which guests could use as leisure and resting areas during the two-day festival. Visitors could also win home a 59FIFTY cap in a game of “Flingcap” at New Era’s beanbag-throwing game booth. Proffering guests with cooling treats, Magnum’s Joy Without Borders pop-up booth supplied seasonal-flavored ice creams that went perfectly with the live music. As the official beverage partner for Hypefest Hangzhou, ELECTRO X also provided a steady supply of PLUS electrolyte drinks and pH 8.8 natural soda water on site – the ideal beverages for replenishing electrolytes and hydration for festival-goers.
