A. Lange & Söhne Readies the Datograph Handwerkskunst
Spotlighting a sophisticated dial with ornate tremblage engraving.
After showcasing two new Datograph models at Watches & Wonders Geneva in April, A. Lange & Sӧhne has now unveiled the Datograph Handwerkskunst, a new limited-edition on the occasion of Watches & Wonders Shanghai.
In the brand’s history, the Handwerkskunst name is only ever bestowed to limited timepieces that are truly exclusive and special on many levels, as the newest reimagining of A. Lange & Sӧhne’s first chronograph, the Datograph Handwerkskunst flaunts a sophisticated dial with ornate tremblage engraving. Crafted from 750 gold, the main dial presents a black-rhodium appearance, while its totalizers come in a light gray.
Every grain on the dials is hand-engraved by artisans at the Manufacture — a laborious task that is not only incredibly time-consuming but also highly challenging to ensure a uniform look and texture throughout. From indices to hands, all adornments on the dial come in either a yellow gold build or a gold-plated finish, creating a sense of color seamlessness that mirrors its 750 yellow gold watch case.
According to Anthony de Haas, the Director of Product Development at A. Lange & Sӧhne, “the artisanal perfection is raised to an even higher level “ for the Datograph Handwerkskunst, with every perspective of the piece revealing “fascinating details that are testament to the outstanding prowess of our [A. Lange & Sӧhne’s] engravers and finishers.”
Measuring 41mm in width with a thickness of 13.1mm, the watch proudly exhibits its lavishly-finish L951.8 Manufacture caliber through an open sapphire crystal caseback. Paired with a hand-stitched and dark-brown alligator strap, the Datograph Handwerkskunst is limited to only 25 examples worldwide.
