The trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season two has been revealed. Premiering during the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the trailer gave fans a look at all of the large-scale action to come as the battle against Sauron continues.

Prime Video teased in the official synopsis, “Sauron has returned. Cast out by Galadriel, without army or ally, the rising Dark Lord must now rely on his own cunning to rebuild his strength and oversee the creation of the Rings of Power, which will allow him to bind all the peoples of Middle-earth to his sinister will.”

With a runtime of over three and a half minutes, the hefty trailer contains scenes of epic battles, magic, mass destruction, elves and a talking tree. The footage of the struggle for power over Middle-earth raises season 1’s stakes and continues to expand The Lord of the Rings universe.

Set thousands of years before the original The Lord of the Rings series, the show is partly based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s posthumous novel “The Silmarillion.” Rings of Power, created by J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay, made TV history when Amazon paid a $1 billion USD for five seasons, making it the most expensive TV show ever.

The second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere on Prime Video on August 29. You can watch the SDCC trailer above and check back here for updates.
