Bronny James has chosen a number for his jersey and it has a touching meaning behind it. In a recent introductory press conference with the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this week, Bronny explained that he wanted to honor late artist Juice WRLD with the No. 9 one his jersey.

The 19-year-old rookie told press that he picked the number because the artist referenced it throughout his career. Bronny also has the same number tattooed on him and explained, “Juice [WRLD] has just been a big part of me keeping calm in situations that I’ve been through. Just paying homage to him, especially because he passed. It’s a really important thing for me.” In another interview Bronny mentioned that he often listened to Juice before playing.

Bronny recently signed a four-year deal worth $7.9 million USD with the Lakers. He is set to play as a part of the California Classic Summer League and the Las Vegas Summer League this month. Watch the press conference below.
