Vince Garcia Reflects on the Experience of Fatherhood With Dior Sauvage
Barber and father Vince Garcia talks passing on grooming advice to his son and hitting the golf range for family bonding.
Vince Garcia helps others put their best looks forward as a barber, uplifting his clientele and boosting their confidence with fresh cuts. He’s been a barber for 23 years, instilling positivity within his community, and especially on to the next generation. But cutting hair is just Garcia’s day job — the job that he continually shows up for day and night is being a father.
“Becoming a father gave me a bigger purpose,” he says, “My relationship with my clients changed a lot — we went from talking sports to changing diapers and it shows the growth we’ve experienced.” Both of these roles require attention and care for others, especially his sons, who he always prioritizes amidst a busy schedule. This Father’s Day, Garcia wanted to show his family the importance of quality time, so he brought one of his kids along for a day of family bonding.

Though Garcia often has a busy schedule, he emphasizes that spending time with his kids always comes first. “My fianceé and I wake up in the morning and get the kids ready for school. The moment they’re off at school, then I’m in barber mode,” he explains. After dropping his kids at school, Garcia then finds some moments of self-reflection, running errands and tidying up the house so he can be fully present both with his family and in the shop.
After picking up the kids from school, Garcia heads to Sand Canyon Country Club with his son for some golf. These are the moments between the on-the-go, busy lifestyle that truly mean the most to the barber and dedicated dad. Post-golf range, the two headed to Garcia’s barber shop to give his son a new cut and pass along some wise words about the importance of self-care.
The rest of Garcia’s family then joined him at the shop to close out the day spending time all together. “My relationship with my sons now that they’re a bit older and can tell me how they want their haircut is a crazy thing. It’s cool to share that moment with them and see them grow,” he reflects, “The best grooming advice I’ve given my sons is to always look clean. If you look good, you feel good and can show up as the best version of yourself.”
