Following the release of Future Genesis: Chapter One, Oakley now unveils the MUZM Sub Zero N sunglasses. The design is inspired by the original Sub Zero model which revolutionized the eyewear industry in the ’90s. The first Sub Zero also made cultural waves when Oakley introduced the 1992 Max Fearlight commercial with its main protagonist wearing the futuristic pair. Now, continuing the story of Max Fearlight, the iconic eyewear brand has now released the sci-fi saga Future Genesis: Chapter One, where it follows Max and his family through an uncertain future. The film project supports the release of the new MUZM Sub Zero N, a design that honors Oakley’s legacy by seamlessly merging past and future with its striking style and advanced materials.

The Sub Zero N is a marvel of engineering, featuring a single continuous contour lens that weighs less than 20 grams, making it feel almost weightless. Made from Oakley’s Plutonite® material and enhanced with Prizm™ Snow Torch Iridium® technology, the lens offers exceptional clarity and contrast. These sunglasses are fitting for an inspiring character like Max Fearlight, whose story from Oakley’s 1992 Sub Zero debut continues with Future Genesis: Chapter One. This futuristic tale follows Max and his family through a challenging world, exploring themes of hope, acceptance, and transformation, while embodying Oakley’s innovative spirit. Teased in 2023, the story forges on as an animated film and a sneak peek comic, developed in collaboration with Dark Horse Comics.

Oakley’s MUZM collection celebrates the brand’s pioneering spirit and the bold designs that have defined its identity over the years. Each piece in this collection is thoughtfully selected from Oakley’s archives and updated with the latest technological advancements, creating a bridge between the brand’s storied past and its forward-looking future. The 2024 MUZM Sub Zero N joins other legendary models like the Eye Jacket, Racing Jacket, and Mars X-Metal Leather, all reimagined within the MUZM series.

Future Genesis: Chapter One also introduces the Sub Zero XM, a concept design worn by Max Fearlight. This futuristic take on the iconic Sub Zero sunglasses nods to the original 1992 commercial, where Max enters a wasteland sporting the classic pair. The XM concept boasts a cutting-edge blend of lightweight poly materials and a durable metal skeleton for enhanced structure. The titanium frame promises to withstand any environment, while integrated heads-up displays in the lenses provide real-time data and connect with Max’s loyal drone, Annie. Though a concept, the Sub Zero XM embodies Oakley’s vision for future eyewear possibilities, using storytelling to showcase potential advancements.

Oakley’s MUZM Sub Zero N embodies the brand’s heritage and forward-looking innovation, bridging the gap between past and future. With its lightweight design and advanced lens technology, it pays homage to the iconic Sub Zero while setting the stage for new narratives like Future Genesis: Chapter One. As part of the MUZM collection, it represents Oakley’s commitment to pushing boundaries and redefining eyewear excellence.

The eagerly awaited 2024 MUZM Sub Zero N is now available, both in stores and online at Oakley.com.
