Jonathan Anderson Turns Viral Tomato Meme Into a LOEWE Clutch
From “meme to reality.”
Earlier this week, an heirloom tomato surfaced online and caught the attention of the fashion community on X. X user @giannarosinaa originally posted to the platform a grandiose heirloom tomato which was later met with feedback from another user, @homocowboi who was quick to state that the “tomato is so LOEWE.” The tomato and the meme later went viral, catching the eye of LOEWE creative director Jonathan Anderson.
Anderson posted the viral X post and interaction surrounding the tomato onto his own Instagram, drawing even more noise to the so-called LOEWE tomato. As more and more of the fashion community became aware of this natural masterpiece, Anderson decided to take advantage of the aforementioned buzz to create an actual wearable piece. Earlier today, he posted on Instagram a short video of a the tomato-inspired clutch, captioning it “LOEWE meme to reality.” The obvious bag accessory appears to be made of red leather and formed into a shape similar to the heirloom tomato, with all its grooves and edges. The stem is in gold and features the LOEWE emblem at the top to mark the opening of the bag which sees the inside lined with what appears to be an olive green leather.
While the piece is not ready to be purchased yet, the piece is already in many’s mental shopping cart. Some have even commented on the Instagram post remarks such as, “That was fast!!” to “He did it. He f***ing did it.” Stay tuned for more information on whether or not this piece will show up online or in-stores anytime soon.
