Leave it up to Rei Kawakubo to bring her eclectic vision to a Salomon shoe. From the COMME des GARÇONS Spring/Summer 2024 collection showcased during Paris Fashion Week in September 2023, the footwear stood out as some of the most bold and wildly colorful selections on the runway. Going hand in hand with the brightly colored pieces presented at the show, the grandiose aesthetic made its way to the footwear, which saw the designer experiment with the SR811 Embellished Platform.
Every part of the shoe is a vibrant mystery. From collar to heel to the toe to the midsole, the silhouette is completely covered in gems, similar to that of a boundless bedazzling project. The base seems to take on the kaleidoscopic pattern from the COMME des GARÇONS x Salomon SR811 Platform. While the previous pair saw a debossed Salomon logo, the jewels cover up the shoe entirely hiding all branding. However, the sole of the shoe takes on the iconic Salomon treads and co-branding of the two labels is seen on the insoles. White laces contrast the multi-colored spectacle, which sees additions in the form of flowers, jewels and more all throughout the shoe.
