Wales Bonner x adidas Originals SS24 Celebrates the Legacy of East African Runners
“The Rift Valley Runners” is a colorful reimagination of classic sportswear staples.

Wales Bonner has held a unique lens up to running culture with her thoughtful, elevated designs. For the British brand’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection in January, “Marathon,” the designer outfitted Ethiopian runners Tamirat Tola and Yomif Kejelcha in cleanly tailored denim, leather jackets and suits.
It can be said that Wales Bonner’s latest collaboration with adidas Originals is an expansion of her solo collection. The Spring/Summer 2024 collaboration is called “The Rift Valley Runners,” referencing the Great Rift Valley, a geographic trench that runs through East Africa.
Naturally, the collection takes a more lifestyle-oriented approach than her solo work, with the lineup featuring vintage-inspired t-shirts, shorts and lightweight outerwear. Many garments are made to match – for instance, a tank, shorts and drawstring bag all come in a black and yellow houndstooth, a nod to Wales Bonner’s British roots.
Color-blocking appears in the form of sweatsuits, with bright orange, yellow, green, blue and white making up the colorful palette. T-shirts and tanks naturally feature adidas’ distinct Three Stripes pattern.
Complementing the main apparel line are two simple leather purses, arriving in black and white leather with rounded square lines, along with a plaid bucket hat and a trio of socks bearing the Wales Bonner name.
The collection follows the reveal of Wales Bonner’s redesigned adidas Samba Millennium models, which made their debut last week.
The adidas Originals by Wales Bonner Spring/Summer 2024 collection will launch globally on May 21, available online and in select stores.
