Update: After surfacing last week via NEIGHBORHOOD founder Shinsuke Takizawa, the brand’s latest take on the adidas Superstar has been officially unveiled ahead of its release later this week. As discussed in our initial breakdown below, the sneaker sports an all-gray build with white NEIGHBORHOOD motifs included throughout. In addition to the standard gray laces, an off-white pair is included alongside another gray pair that sports white “NEIGHBORHOOD” text repeated from aglet to aglet. Release is set to take place via adidas on June 1 at a price of $160 USD.

Original Story: Shinsuke Takizawa’s label NEIGHBORHOOD has a longstanding relationship with adidas, bringing forth a plethora of sneaker collaborations in their two decades of projects together. The duo dropped two unique takes on the NMD S1 last year and are now set to revisit the Superstar for 2024, which not-so-coincidentally marks the 20th anniversary of their first collaboration, one that utilized the same silhouette.
NEIGHBORHOOD and adidas’ latest take on the Superstar presents it in a monochromatic “Cement Gray” that sees the hue cover the entirety of the sneaker, save for its white co-branding elements. These motifs range from a co-branded tongue tag to “NEIGHBORHOOD” text above the lateral Three Stripes, its “Craft With Pride” text at the heel and the Japanese brand’s logo at the lateral heel. From there, a special dubrae has been prepared in gray, matching the “TOKYO” text at the midsole’s heel and its accompanying lightning bolt design that runs from the heel of the midsole to the midfoot.
At the time of writing, neither NEIGHBORHOOD nor adidas have revealed when their collaborative “Cement Gray” colorway of the Superstar sneaker will be releasing. However, Takizawa did simply note “soon.” in the caption of his Instagram post spotlighting the pair. Stay tuned for updates as it’s likely to launch via adidas, NEIGHBORHOOD and select global retailers later this year.
