Hypebeast Flea’s Modelo Especial Gallery Featured Exclusive Pieces from Artists COVL, Loso, and Kevin Leonel
The Modelo showcase immersed Flea attendees within exclusive pieces they could own through a silent charity auction.
On May 18 and 19, Hypebeast Flea landed in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint Terminal Market for two days of shopping and celebration, highlighting the local creative community and bringing coveted flea finds to patrons. Modelo joined in as a collaborator for the event, which included gems from notable vendors from Extra Vitamins, to Lichen, to Photodom and more.
Between browsing unique finds, visitors could enjoy drinks from the Modelo Especial bar while checking out the curated gallery, which included custom works from artists COVL, Loso, and Kevin Leonel. Guests also had a chance to learn more about each of the artists’ upbringings and creative processes as part of the Modelo ‘Humbly Me’ Design Challenge. Each artist created a design or artwork inspired by their backgrounds, paying homage to their heritage and honoring the lasting legacy of Modelo within Mexican-American culture.

The artist’s commissioned works aligned with their signature design codes, with added accents connecting to the Modelo spirit. COVL created a large-scale, mixed-media textured painting inspired by her childhood, Loso designed a hand-stitched sashiko-inspired hat, and Kevin unveiled an exclusive jacket with upcycled elements. All of these custom pieces were displayed within an immersive gallery between vendors’ booths at the flea market.
While hunting for the perfect home decor item or vintage grail, guests enjoyed music by DJ Sundae Sauuce and explored the immersive gallery. Each of the artists’ Modelo pieces were auctioned off through a silent bid, and all proceeds were donated to the New York City-based organization Dress for Success.
