On Friday, Guram Gvasalia corralled Paris Fashion Week showgoers for VETEMENTS 10th anniversary runway. “The most Vetements show ever,” the brand touted on Instagram ahead of the event. “You’ve been waiting for it for ten years.” With a starry crowd that included Michele Lamy, J Balvin and Cher, the label forged ahead on its quest to claim the industry’s spotlight again, with an ultra-sized Fall/Winter 2024 collection that claims to be the most authentic version of itself.

This is the VETEMENTS show that looks to make you “feel,” “say WTF,” “think,” “gossip,” “powerful,” and “forgive,” according to the brand. The collection is successful in garnering many of these reactions: massively oversized suiting exuded fashion’s might, while coats covered in teddy bears certainly solicited a few WTFs. Colossal, rounded sweatshirts reading “Team Jolie” and “Team Aniston” referenced some bygone drama between two powerful actresses that was likely covered in a gossip magazine, and Alton Mason’s dark, velvet suit begged curiosity for what exactly its fabric felt like.

Everything — swallowing overcoats, formal blazers, hooded dresses, leather jackets, cozy sweaters, graphic T-shirts, roomy jeans, cargo pants — was big and striking. On a bright red carpet, it was easy to imagine the brand’s gargantuan creations under the spotlight at some awards shows in the coming weeks. The line adhered to elevated dress codes via sparkling suiting, form-flattering gowns and satin tuxedo-like silhouettes, while retaining its playful streetwear edge with utilitarian outerwear and “Not Mom’s Favorite” T-shirts (the latter of which is the designer’s latest poke at the beef he has with his brother Demna). Bringing the drama, Guram does not want you to forget about VETEMENTS.
