Louis Vuitton Recreates Frank Gehry’s Architectural Forms in a Translucent Tambour Timepiece
Featuring a sapphire build from case, lugs, crown to dial.

Louis Vuitton has unveiled a translucent timepiece as part of its collaboration with renowned architect, Frank Gehry. Dubbed the Tambour Moon Flying Tourbillon Poinçon De Genève Sapphire Frank Gehry, the time-teller was unveiled alongside a handful of new time-telling novelties, all of which serve as testaments to La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton’s prowess in high-watchmaking.
Presented in a stunningly translucent 43.8mm-wide case, the reference draws its aesthetic cues from the architectures of Louis Vuitton’s Seoul Maison, as well as the emblematic Fondation Louis Vuitton building in Paris — both designed by Gehry.
From the case, lugs, crown to the dial, the watch is crafted from sapphire, complete with an engraving of Gehry’s signature on the caseback. The sapphire protecting the watch face has been sculpted and polished by hand to emulate the distinctive forms of Gehry’s architectural works.
The beating heart of this timepiece is the LFTMM05.01, an in-house mechanical movement geared with manual winding, completely developed and assembled by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, complete with the “Poinçon de Genève” certification on its central bridge. Aside from the essential hour and minute indication, its functions include a skeleton flying tourbillon and a monogram flower tourbillon cage that rotates every minute.
Produced in a limited production of five examples, the Tambour Moon Flying Tourbillon Poinçon De Genève Sapphire Frank Gehry has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $935,000 USD. Head over to Louis Vuitton’s website for more details regarding the availability of this timepiece.
