Louis Vuitton FW24 Is a Testament to Timeless Grace
Marking Nicolas Ghesquière’s 10th anniversary as LV’s womenswear creative director.

Where the Louis Vuitton man has maneuvered into a more boisterous and creative personality over the years with names like Virgil Abloh and Pharrell Williams, the Louis Vuitton woman has remained calm, yet still irrefutably stylish. It was 2014 when Nicolas Ghesquière stepped into the womenswear creative director seat, and for 10 years he’s been refining the archetype of the LV woman. So with Ghesquière’s 10th-anniversary show, the Fall/Winter 2024 collection offered up a balance of past, present and future alongside a testament to timeless grace.
Whenever you hit a hallmark anniversary, it’s hard to not look back upon your accomplishments and creative portfolio to date. Even in the creation of something new (i.e. another collection) elements of the past find their way back into the present as a means of both recalling and honoring history. So Ghesquière’s latest was a mix. Elements of the past were seen in garments like ornately embroidered jackets, scuba dresses or even glistening tailoring.
But alongside that was an attention to newness that saw a wardrobe full of exquisitely draped tops, sculptured waist-contouring jackets, technical windbreaker-like jackets, glittering dresses, three-piece sets and more. Across the entire wardrobe, Ghesquière reminded us that he’s never afraid to play with texture, color and embellishments – proving that he’s actually quite good at it. Through it all, Ghesquière always imparts a clear vision of Louis Vuitton’s travel-oriented spirit.
