Kim Kardashian and Her Scientist "Klones" Star in New "SKIMS Lab" Campaign
Marking the brand’s first-ever national TV commercial.
During the Oscars on Sunday evening, Kim Kardashian’s solutions-oriented brand SKIMS made its television debut, with an otherworldly Fran Lebon-directed video campaign, dubbed “SKIMS Lab.”
Produced by Wieden+Kennedy, the advertisement is set in outer space, where Kardashian assumes the role of “Chief Engineer” in a futuristic laboratory. There, she oversees quality control for the brand’s famous designs, including its shapewear, T-shirts and bras, alongside an army of Kardashian “klones,” who put the fabrics’ stretch, comfort and smoothness to the test.
“With this being our first-ever made-for-TV campaign, we really wanted to bring viewers into the SKIMS universe and create a film about our brand story and obsession with product development in a witty, yet extravagant way,” Kardashian said in a statement. “It was great working with Frank on this — his unique creativity and talent for storytelling really shined through. I am really proud of what we created together.”
Jens Grede, SKIMS co-founder and chief executive officer, added, “Collaborating with Wieden+Kennedy was a no-brainer given their reputation and long history of creating visually impactful campaigns that connect with culture and stand the test of time.” Notably, Wieden+Kennedy has previously produced several historic commercials, including the first-ever “Just Do It” campaign for Nike.
