MM6 Maison Margiela FW24 Blends Casual and Formal Codes With Color
Paint-splattered suiting, sharp-shouldered shirting and utilitarian leather trousers reimagine the traditional uniform.
While fans of the brand frenzy over a soon-to-be-released Supreme collaboration, MM6 Maison Margiela is busy at Milan Fashion Week. On Thursday, the French House’s diffusion label revealed its Fall/Winter 2024 collection, a conceptual lineup of crisply cut wares spanning casual dress codes to formalwear.
In the foreground of daintily-draped white curtains, the collection initially took form with a dark persona: sharp-shouldered tops paired with skin-tight leather pants, while structured crewnecks and tailored trousers left a little more room to breathe. Brown tones commanded sleeveless, hourglass-shaped blazers with minimal decorations; oversized leather coats drowned out models’ underlayers, and bags took shapes akin to airplane neck pillows.
Vivid purple and yellow hues crept into the collection on form-hugging turtlenecks, which became the base layers for eclectic ensembles pairing sophisticated overcoats with aged jeans. Utilitarian pants boasted zippers all over their constructions, while denim, in varying tonal washes, continued to stake major claims in the collection’s bottoms. Leather remained equally prominent, composing collared jackets, thigh-high boots and a statement vest that, when paired with face-shielding sunglasses, was ready for a techno festival.
In the closing looks, classic suiting was splattered with kaleidoscopic colors, and shiny, satin materials built more elegant eveningwear silhouettes. Overall, the line was equipped for a bounty of occasions.
