Bally FW24 Is Where Rural Spirits Meet Coded Metropolitan Uniforms
Drawing inspiration from mysticism of Swiss Folklore.
Bally creative director Simone Belloti takes inspiration from mysticism symbols from Swiss folklore for his sophomore collection. Fascinated by the often overlooked tales of magical creatures like mermaids and sirens living amongst the lakes and mountains in Switzerland, the collection is the meeting point of where rural spirits meet coded metropolitan uniforms from the streets of Zurich.
Bellotti leans towards maximal tailoring without being too literal with the nods to the Swiss folklore symbols. Bellotti references the Swiss precision in his structural shapes, while also giving a nod to the siren’s tail and treichlen bell by forming exaggerated silhouettes like the skirt flared into the shape of the huge bells paired with a double-breasted thick woolen coat. Masculine tropes are seen in the crisp, poplin shirts and boatneck sweaters, paired with straight cords and indigo denim.
The collection took on a natural palette featuring textures from shearling and waxy leathers, mohair and alpine jacquard knit sweaters as well as smooth wool and draped over satin. Pieces move well, coats swinging with each step as Bellotti sticks to a natural palette broken up by Swiss red. Leather ensembles including leather studded vests, overcoats and full blazer and skirt combinations showed off Bellotti’s precise tailoring. Many of the menswear looks showed off a boxy, construction while women coat line followed the bell-like flare.
