AARON ESH FW24 Is Worn Again, Again, and...Again
The LVMH Prize finalist examines the way we wear clothes repetitively and how they play into our everyday identities.
LVMH Prize finalist AARON ESH has proven himself as one to watch, holding his London Fashion Week debut last season. The celebrated co-ed designer is a romantic at heart and parades his hometown at every opportunity. London is his playground of choice, choosing to reveal his Fall/Winter 2024 collection in an intimate environment packed with industry insiders.
For FW24, AARON ESH marked his second on-schedule runway show by questioning modern-day consumption, outlining: “How soon is now? Does the future begin when the past ends? What makes clothes contemporary? What do you see when you look in the mirror? Can you desire what you already know?” as the show notes read.
The collection breaks down our most worn items, taking them through London’s bustling avenues unnoticed. While examining the way we wear them daily and the unexpected ways they play into our identities, ESH delivers an impactful collection of elevated basics to last a lifetime. He looks up into London’s overflowing skyline for inspiration, envisioning their concrete bodies on contemporary looks that balance masculine and feminine styles. The garments are spotless at first glance, but look closer, and you’ll find slight imperfections caused by rigorous wear — he prides himself on wearing your clothes — not just sticking them in a closet.
Sheer fabrics are draped on the first go, reflecting fast-paced lifestyles when rushing out the door. Long-haired coats and shimmering trousers head to the corner store after a night out, while Savile Row tailoring practices are manipulated with unpredictable slits. Hoodies and blazers are eloquently paired and followed by tonal tracksuits, hooded outerwear, and more. Esh pays tribute to his beloved home, communicating his love for the big city come rain or shine.
