Grand Seiko’s 44GS Limited Edition Pays Homage to Washi Paper Art
An exclusive release for the APAC region.

Grand Seiko has unveiled the SBGJ283, a new regional and limited-edition reference with the nickname of “Washi Paper.” As the name suggests, the timepiece draws inspiration from the traditional art of making Washi paper — the latest chapter in the watchmaker’s journey in paying homage Japanese artisanal arts.
Similar to previous special 44GS watches with artistic concepts, the latest timepiece showcases a meticulously-crafted patterned dial that captures the esssence of its inspiration. The dial of the SBGJ283 arrives in a lustrous off-white and mimics the nuanced textures of Washi paper, while its subtle sheen adds an alluring finish.
A limited edition of 150 examples, the SBGJ283 is geared with 55 hours of power reserve and runs on Grand Seiko’s self-winding 9386 caliber. It’s housed in a 40mm Ever-Brilliant Steel watch case, accompanied by a three-fold stainless steel bracelet as well as an additional brown crocodile leather strap.
Priced at $ 11,000 SGD (approx. $8,116 USD), the SBGJ283 “ Washi Paper” is set to release Grand Seiko and select retail partners in the APAC region.
