BEAMS Unveils Experiential Retail and Community Space BEAMS LIFE in Yokohama
“Art, fashion, culture… BEAMS LIFE is an experiential select shop that fuses all genres together to stimulate the five senses.”
Japanese fashion label BEAMS has unveiled plans to open a 1000 sq m experiential retail destination called BEAMS LIFE Yokohama. The multi-shop complex located south of Tokyo will offer an array of product categories and experiences.
Early in November, the brand began posting on a new Instagram account beams_life_yokohama with special campaign imagery showing everything from new apparel lines, secondhand clothing and media, collectibles, home decor, and even groceries.
BEAMS has shared that the store will combine multiple shop-in-shop spaces with various vendors offering their goods. The space will also house a permanent cafe powered by Starbucks, offering exclusive BEAMS x Starbucks merchandise, and a BEAMS B-Jirushi MARKET selling curated food and beverage products. Other stalls include vintage clothing and books specialist Mr. Clean, whose pop-up will be open until January 30, and BEAMS CULTUART, offering a special selection of art and lifestyle merchandise.
The multi-decade-spanning brand, a fixture of Japanese prep fashion, has recently delved deeper into its physical retail strategy not only in Japan but the US for the first time. On November 15, the BEAMS PLUS Limited Store opened its doors in Los Angeles, CA at 620 Imperial Street until December 24. The LA shop is just the beginning of further plans for the label’s expansion into the North American market with more activations coming in 2025.
