LA(HORDE) and Alpine’s New Short Film Is an Unexpected Tearjerker
Exploring the highs and lows of 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In a love letter to the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans motorsport race, car manufacturer Alpine has released a new short film with dance collective LA(HORDE), titled “I don’t remember what it was not to know you.”
The latest project, however, doesn’t mark the first time that the duo have come together. Earlier this year, the collective – led by Marine Brutti, Jonathan Debrouwer, and Arthur Harel – was enlisted for the grand reveal of the electric A290 where they put on an interpretive performance around the Dream Garage car. Harnessing contemporary dance movements, which they have cultivated at Ballet National de Marseille, their collaboration with the car brand centers on creating a new, artistic depiction of the driving experience.
For the new short film, (LA)HORDE captures the journey to Le Mans, building on the expressive A290 car showcase with a hyper-realistic edge. The concept revolves around two video game-inspired characters who guide the narrative through an almost childlike lens. Spectating in the stands, their first look at the track leads to overwhelming emotions, of which racing fans will undoubtedly relate to. After the race, the characters come together in a joyous flash mob and end by bowing down in respect to the aforementioned electric car.
