Bonhams Cars is set to auction a rare and highly desirable 1996 Porsche 993 Carrera RS 3.8L Coupé, one of only 779 left-hand drive models ever produced. This model, designed for amateur motorsport use, showcases Porsche‘s RennSport (RS) engineering at its finest, combining reduced weight, increased power and precision handling.
Finished in Polar Silver, the car has logged roughly 45,860 miles since new, with the current owner having stored it carefully since purchasing it in 2014. The example is equipped with a range of desirable options like Carrera RS Sport seats and air conditioning and also retains original service records, including a recent inspection by RS Motors in Belgium.
Powered by a 3.8L flat-six engine that generates 300 hp, the Carrera RS 3.8 boasts improved performance over the stock Carrera, with lighter components and advanced handling enhancements. With its rich racing pedigree and limited production numbers, this model remains one of the rarest air-cooled 911 RS generations ever made.
This particular example will be up for auction as part of Bonhams Cars’ The Zoute Sale, on October 6, where it is estimated to fetch as much as $390,000 USD.
